Regina Edwards Drumm calls home on 15 acres in Upstate New York. Where she shares her life with her wonderful husband Bill (who often inspires my heroes), two beautiful stepdaughters, and a couple of lovable beagles who are more like her children then dogs. Writing has always been in her blood. Her mother is a good writer and taught her the importance of being able to write well. But she thinks the writing bug really came from her grandmother who loved to write poems and read Barbara Taylor Bradford. Regina remembers she had quite a collection of Barbara’s books and would often sneak one to read. She remembers exploring other romance novels as a teenager, passing around books and falling in love with the handsome heroes who always saved the day. She fell in love with historical romances the most because it was another time and another place. The heroes always road in on their white horses to rescue the damsel, though in distress, still strong. These romances conjured up all sorts of visions of what love and romance were supposed to be about. For a young woman, that set a pretty strong precedent for finding Mr. Right. Thank goodness she found Mr. Right, a man she never expected to sweep her off her feet, but one who is truly her soul mate. It is very easy to conjure up her heroes because they each have a little of her husband in them. She feels very lucky that he supports her endeavors and proudly tells everyone he’s the inspiration for her books. While her family is a huge supporter, she wouldn’t have pursued a writing career or chased her dreams if it wasn’t for her writing friends and all the wonderful writers with the Central New York Romance Writers (CNYRW). Thanks to this wonderful organization and the fabulous writers who make it up, she learned so much about what it takes to be a successful writer. It is more than telling a good story, it is perfecting a craft and carrying your readers into a different world. She couldn’t have done it without them. Now after twenty years of working in the field of marketing and public relations, she is pursuing her other passion. She still loves the work she does, but it feels glorious to be making her dreams come true.
