Four passions have ruled the author’s life - skiing, reading, writing, and women - one of which he swears will eventually kill him. More than likely it will be the latter, but he never goes through life counting out the other three. As a graduate of history from SUNY Oswego he soon began working for Eastern Mountain Sports as a guide, rackmaster, ski technician, and foot guru. Talking to people about the outdoors and gear has never lost its interest but it made him realize the true passion in his life - writing. J.S. Van Winkle has always enjoyed reading and writing fantasy, narrative non-fiction, and History (mostly 20th Century European, since that’s what his degree is in) - but he has found himself, as of recent, indulging in travel articles, skiing (and mountaineering) accounts, and current events. He has one book written (still trying to find an agent), two others novels partially to almost complete, and a veritable horde of short stories taking up space on his hard drive. A few of which are presented in this first volume. He can be found in Saratoga Springs, New York - always with a pen and paper in hand, waiting for the next great literary idea to strike him.
