In booming high tech Silicon Valley, Sheriff Rusty Carter loses interest in police work when his wife dies of cancer. After he retires, the Surenos gang, for unknown reasons, almost succeeds in murdering Rusty, who kills two gang-bangers in self-defense. Rusty turns to his former Department for help only to find that the Sheriff's Department may be complicit. And a sleazy D.A. may be about to indict him for murder. As if that isn't enough, it's also not clear to Rusty whether or not a young, hot, sexy female lieutenant heading the Homicide Squad wants to bed him or put him on death row in San Quentin.
