A skeptic battles a psychic for the soul of a fragile artist after a seemingly chance encounter and a ＂message from beyond＂ lead to the discovery of human remains hidden in a forgotten dry well.Evan Traherne and Jocelyn Prowd are reclusive artists content with their nearly-idyllic life on a farm in Connecticut, until self-proclaimed psychic Magnus Isaksen delivers a message from Evan’s mother who disappeared when he was five years old. Treading a fine line between her flat-out disbelief and Evan’s need for answers, Jocelyn is further thrown off balance by her immediate attraction to Clay Macklin of Cerberus Security. As Magnus insinuates himself further into Evan’s life, Jocelyn fights to keep him grounded in reality. Called in to supervise a job that seems too small for a Blackwater-style consulting firm like Cerberus, Clay Macklin forms an uneasy alliance with the local detectives investigating the forty-year-old crime, and uses his own resources to protect his charges when he begins to question the motives of his employers. The job becomes more personal as his interest in the smart and sensual Jocelyn intensifies, compromising both of them as they confront the growing threat from the people who buried the body under the floor.
