He has two strands to his life and both bring their share of concerns. The National League basketball team loses its main sponsor and is forced to review its activities and possibly even cease to exist. At the same time, his working life changes dramatically as he is asked to take on a new role. With this alteration in his professional capacity, the door is thrown open to widen his scope of experience in the academic world. In turn, this leads to attendance at conferences where, as a single man, he meets a succession of women with whom he builds relationships. All the while this is against the backdrop of a college in crisis as management issues begin to dominate the scene.
