When she saw her American neighbour, Joe Stone standing in her London garden on that cold, spring night Kate Walker knew she was attracted to him. But Joe isn’t the only one hiding from a past. Though physically attracted to each other they are always at odds and their fragile relationship inevitably crumbles when Kate’s true identity is revealed. Believing she has one choice to save them both Kate runs but she has experienced a different life now and the transition back to the subservient drug-dependent gypsy she once was is too much. Unable to trust anyone Joe hides them deep in the English countryside. Their time together is special, to all intents and purposes just another ordinary couple.
