Allen Dark grew up in the small town of Alexander City, Alabama, and earned degrees from The University of Alabama and The Georgia Institute of Technology, and years later an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He served as a Lieutenant, airborne qualified, in the U. S. Army on Okinawa during 1965-1966, and then worked as a professional design engineer. After business school, he held executive positions with large and mid-sized companies where he worked mainly in the areas of strategic planning, acquisitions, start ups, crisis management and turnarounds. Allen was the founder of a venture capital backed new technology venture and owned and operated three small businesses in Houston and Austin. He debuted as a novelist with Pinedale Incident soon after he retired from routine business, and writes from a home of his own design on 57 acres of native Post Oak Savannah land in rural Central Texas.
