Amber Armstrong wants an A on her research paper, and she’ll do anything to get it. Even steal. She pilfers flowback water from a natural gas drilling site hoping to prove it’s toxic. But it isn’t until fish in the Colorado River die that Amber realizes the water she stole is valuable. With it she can prove the gas company is responsible for the fish kill.
Walter Montague, owner of Montague Oil & Gas Corporation, is furious Amber is caught on tape stealing his flowback water. His company doesn’t need any more PR problems. He’s already facing a law suit for a water well explosion, so he’ll do anything to keep his company out of the news. Even kill.
As Amber awaits the lab results on the flowback water, Brian occupies her mind with more important things, like him. It’s not easy, though. They both have secrets they’re hiding from one another, and one of them is deadly. However, with her friend’s help, he finally proves her heart is safe with him. Too bad the rest of her isn’t as easily protected.
