"Beauty for Ashes: Transformed Through God's Love" is a brief memoir of a young woman who married for all the wrong reasons. It chronicles hurt, shame, and pain in the author's union, which started all too soon. At the age of nineteen a young woman puts her trust in a man who betrays that trust from the onset and throughout their marriage. Once reality set in, it was too late; she was "stuck" in a marriage riddled with abuse and infidelity. Her desire to hang on to her idea of family caused her to endure both mental and physical anguish. Suffering from feelings of low self- esteem she believed this was the life she was destined to live. It was only through finding and developing a relationship with Jesus Christ that she was able to find "true love." After making the decision to let God reign over her life, she eventually learned to forgive and move ahead. Her relationship with Jesus would sustain her past all the hurt, pain, and shame. She became empowered to move past a tumultuous marriage that she once thought would destroy her.
