When Winter Comes: The Art of Being Charlee

Celestia Whitehead spent her childhood on a homestead in the Alaskan wilderness, where she thought life was idyllic. There she developed her artist’s eye for raw beauty, but doesn’t miss the winters. She and her husband, Van Whitehead, raised 12 children and lived in many places, including California, Idaho, and Alaska. He was killed in the small Idaho town where he was raised, and Celestia began teaching Art and English. Her first job was in a tiny town in northern Montana, where she survived winter nicely, but she opted to move to Salt Lake City, the cross-roads of the west, so she has a chance to see her grown children once in a while. She’s now married to Wally Stewart and lives in Draper, Utah.
