Rachel Ronning grew up reading fantasy. She attended Cretin-Derham Hall high school. She has a degree in Literature and Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where she also studied abroad in Dalkieth, Scotland. She lives and writes in Fargo with her family.
