Chef Donny Touchet is a graduate of the Culinary Arts Institute of Louisiana, worked as a Chef at a James Beard Award Winning Restaurant and won a fourth Mobil Star Rating as the Executive Chef of a Southern Grand Hotel. Chef Touchet has owned his own restaurants and catering operations and has gone into semi-retirement after receiving a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease in the Summer of 2011. Chef Touchet lives in Natchitoches, LA with his wife Julie (A developing Pastry Chef) and their daughter Cora (age 9 going on 16). They make their home, literally in a Cabin In The Woods on a small plot of land in Kisatchie National Forest on Saline Lake. Chef Touchet is trying to bring a self sustaining life style to his family’s life that is about traditional methods rather than the trends of today. Believing the only "true" organic foods are those you can see being raised, small gardens, goats milks, chicken hatchery, wild game butchery and many other quality "ingredients of life" are what Touchet is achieving. Along the lines of "Traditional Self Sustaining Cooking" please look for "Chefs: My Grandmother Taught Me Everything I needed To Know" available in the spring of 2013.....featuring both regional and Celebrity Chefs and recipies from their greatest inspiration....their Grandmothers.
