D. Darlene Sonntag grew up in the foster care system starting at age three. She was adopted into a wonderful family at the age of eleven. Due to the abuse she suffered in many of her foster homes, she used reading as an outlet. In one of her homes she would climb a tree with a book, and sit reading high in its branches to hide from her foster mother. It didn’t take long for her to begin writing as a means of escape, and she completed her first full length novel at age 12. She now resides in Utah with her husband and four children. She has found peace and lives a full, happy life, blessed not only with her adopted family and her biological family, but also to have married into a wonderful family. In addition to writing novels, it is her desire to help facilitate much-needed changes in the foster care system so others will not suffer as she did as a child.
