Only in Ashland: Reflections of a Smitten Immigrant

JoAnn Shade has been an Ashland resident since 2006, when she and her husband Larry were assigned here by the Salvation Army to develop the new Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. She has been a regular columnist for the Ashland Times-Gazette since 2007. She is privileged to be the mother of 3 sons and grandmother to Madelyn Simone. With an M.A. in pastoral counseling and a D.Min. in the Women in Prophetic Leadership track from Ashland Theological Seminary, she combines her academic training with a writer’s eye, a pastor’s heart and a grandmother’s joy as she serves the body of Christ through Gracednotes Ministries.
