The Bend in the Road: Reflections of a Smitten Corps Officer

JoAnn Streeter Shade has served in the Salvation Army in partnership with her husband, Larry, since 1978. She and her husband have led Salvation Army congregations with an emphasis on the enhancement of connective social service programming, and prior to their retirement, they gave leadership to the development of a new expression of Salvation Army ministry in the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Ashland, Ohio. She is married to Larry, and is the mother of three sons. With an M.A. in pastoral counseling and a D.Min. in the Women in Prophetic Leadership track from Ashland Theological Seminary, she combines her academic training with a writer’s eye, a pastor’s heart and a grandmother’s joy as she serves the body of Christ through Gracednotes Ministries, gracednotesministries@gmail.com.
