;BEST LAID PLANS" is a political thriller in which a U.S. Congressman enters into an arrangement with a mysterious Oil Man and a Mexican Drug Lord to finance various campaigns. The purpose of the scheme is to legalize drugs, particularly Marijuana for sale in the U.S. Superimposed over the scheme is a political contest for re-election of the Congressman, in which the Mexican Drug Lord assigns his thugs to "take care of the problem" by eliminating the Congressman's opponent, and eventually the Congressman himself when the plot unravels.

RAY TOMPKINS is a trial lawyer with 50 years of experience. He has been Chief of Staff for a U.S. Congressman, and has been involved as an organizer and campaigner in Governor’s, Congressional, Senate and Presidential campaigns.
