Jonathan May grew up in Sawyerville, Alabama. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at Birmingham-Southern College and a Masters of Library Science at Columbia University, where he worked as Government Documents Librarian for some years before returning to his home in Alabama to write. His other works include the novel A Howling in the Night. His three works of non-fiction are The Turbervilles of Greensboro, Alabama; Rants, Raves, Ruminations, and Ramblifications, Musings from a Hamlet; and Telling Stories, Fragments of a life. He has edited for posthumous publication two memoirs by his friend Tom Canford, Baker’s Daughter, Miller’s Son and A Fever of the Mad as well as a collection of Canford’s song lyrics, Tom’s Songbook.
