Jessica Deforest, a former associate editor and staff writer/editor for several large corporations, is the recipient of two Educational Press of America awards for distinguished achievement. A prolific writer even as a child, she submitted essays to a children’s page in her local newspaper, often winning prizes such as free movie tickets or a gallon of ice cream. That’s what gave her the idea that writing could be more than just fun. Her first published poem appeared in a national student anthology when she was a high school senior. She studied with the late Sloan Wilson, the bestselling author who wrote The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit, Ice Brothers, A Summer Place, and a dozen other novels. Jessica’s educational background includes an M.A. in counseling psychology and a B.S. in business administration. She is a member of Psi Chi International Honor Society.
