Since wandering around the remaining Victorian and pre-Victorian back streets of Leicester, back in the 1970s, I have always had the urge to write a book or books about what it would have been like as a Policeman in the early Victorian period, with its cobbled or ash strewn streets, gas lamps, and atmosphere. I have now done that, and my first novel ’Jack Ketch’s Puppets’, which is the first in a series I am calling ’the Borough Boys’, was published earlier in 2013. ’Death lurks in Cock Muck Hill’ is published as the first of three novellas in this series which will cover the years 1851 to 1853. 1854 & 5 will feature in my next full ’Borough Boys’ novel which is already well underway! I am also a keen Genealogist and more recently, have taken a greater interest in Local History, and legend. The resources available to me add depth and colour to my story-telling, I hope you will find.
