This textbook on motor control and learning emphasizes movement behavior, the factors that affect movement performances, and the ease with which they can be learned. It also focuses on the cognitive, motivational, neurological, and biomechanical processes that create these movement behaviors. It describes research and concepts in motor behavior, including the methodology for studying motor performance; aspects of motor control; and motor learning concepts and research methods. Along with new authors and revised chapters, this edition has new content on sleep and movement memory, the role of vision, illusions and reaching, the OPTIMAL (Optimizing Performance Through Intrinsic Motivation and Attention for Learning) theory of motor learning, the neuroscience of learning, and other topics.
