Dragon Zone was written at a time when I felt like I was at my ultimate low. Originally, it was written to entertain myself and was inspired by Capcom’s Game Series, Breath Of Fire which happens to be my favourite game of all time thus the fact that I chose Ryu as my protagonist and even described his physical features as quite similar to the Ryu in Breath Of Fire. But Breath Of Fire was not my only influence, the anime series Naruto was a great influence in my life and thus I chose to include the world of the ninja in this story. Dragon Zone was originally written in 2009 as a linear plot story with less background and more mystery surrounding the history of its world. I completed it in 2010. It was a fifty chapter novel then and it was written in a hardcover extra large notebook. I knew I had to type all that and honestly speaking, it was a pain. Firstly because, the techniques written in the original story were in Japanese romaji and translated to English side by side. I decided to get rid of the Japanese so as not to give other language readers too much of a headache. As I began to type, I felt a strange inspiration to intertwine the story with my Christian faith, yet from an Eastern perspective so I wrote the story including Eastern Principles like dragons as the keepers of elements instead of destroyers of nature, chakra and ninjutsu from Japanese history and fiction(though there is not much of history to talk about). Then we have the Dragon Zone which is a customized version of the yin yang. However, Christian principles, my faith was also interweaved into the story as well as some of my reflections concerning my faith. God is represented as Ryuujinn, a loving creator who will do anything to protect his creation, however, I chose to give God/Ryuujinn more of a vulnerable, sensitive side than just the all powerful creator you are familiar with. The entire story is allegorical. P.S. Concerning the writing style I chose to adopt, you will notice that the story is progressed more through dialogue than just narration. I have a weakness when it comes to descriptive writing however, I tried to remedy that as I wrote along. I also used flashbacks at some parts in the story to give more background. That is about all I’ll tell you. Anything more would be a major spoiler. There’s sword fights, fist fights, a lot of character development as well as four different romance scenarios. By the end of the story, I found the answer I was searching for.
