Ron Mottern has a PhD in Educational Psychology & Research from the University of Tennessee, an MA in Human Services (Social/Psychological Services) from St. Edward’s University and a BA in English from Sam Houston State University. He is Executive Director of the Mottern Institute for Mind-Body Wellness, where he sees clients on an on-going basis. His services include Clinical Hypnosis and Life Coaching using Choice Theory Psychology. He is Reality Therapy Certified with the William Glasser Institute and a Certified Hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnotists. He is also Certified in Clinical Hypnosis and Certified in Hypnosis for Pain Management. Dr. Mottern is Yudansha in both Goju Ryu Karate-Do and Hanguk Haedong Kumdo (Traditional Korean Sword). He has published articles dealing with martial arts history, theory and technique in the award-winning encyclopedias, Martial Arts of the World: An Encyclopedia (2 Vols.) and Martial Arts of the World: An Encyclopedia of History and Innovation (2 Vols.), as well as Black Belt Magazine, Tae Kwon Do Times and Traditional Karate Magazine.
