Carol Crandell, a native Oregonian raised in eastern Oregon, holds a wider view of the world than that of many rural residents. Beginning with a college education, her seeking leads her to travel, to explore other cultures, and to open to new ideas. She sees herself as a seeker, a wordsmith, and a weaver of lives. Her love of books and reading led her to specialize in English, and she taught language arts and writing in grades 7 through 12. At the same time, she raised a daughter, kept a home, and tried to make a marriage work. She discovered astrology, the Celtic druids, and Native American shamanism. She discovered genealogy, a love she continues to pursue. Eventually, she found herself caring for a dog, horses, and mules-an entire world of learning all its own. Through it all, she continues to write and share her stories, both in prose and poetry. Prior to Merry-Go-Round, she published a few of her poems and edited two volumes of Klamath Basin Cemeteries. She is now at work on The Weaver’s Tale, a novel set in Malheur County of eastern Oregon.
