Heart of the Wheat Shaft: Mystery in Nebraska Wheatland

Elizabeth Blanton is baffled when her estranged grandmother calls her home after eleven years of separation. Elizabeth does return but too late to see her beloved grandfather alive. His death is ruled heart attack but the longer Elizabeth is in the small rural town of Pineville, Nebraska the more she realizes there was much more to his death that what her grandmother has told her. She sets out on her own quest and in the process discovers hidden secrets both her grandparents had. Memories of her childhood in their home is now marred and she must get to the truth.

Alice Shy Recker, originally from New Madrid, Missouri, now lives in the Kansas City Missouri area. She has been published in Nature Friend, Torrid Literature Journal and Looking Back magazines Alice has received placement and awards from Alabama Writer’s Conclave, Ozark Creative Writers and White County Creative Writers. She is a contributor to New Madrid County Missouri, History and Families. Alice has two adult children, Sterling who lives in St. Louis, Missouri and is an Instructor at a University, and daughter, Jill who lives in Kansas City and is a Social Worker for Hospice.
