Jamesa J Fabien is from the Caribbean island of Dominica. She has been writing from as far back as she remembers. The youngest member of a family of writers, she grew up with a passion for writing. As a student she was often called upon to represent her school at literary competitions both locally and internationally. Her first book, Life, Love and Laughter: Stories and poems to make you laugh, though published when she was at secondary school, was actually written while she was still a student at primary school. In 2011, Jamesa published jointly with her sister, Jenel Fabien, ’Lighter days and Brighter Moments: Poems for young readers. She is also co-author of Sunshine Collection of Poems from PSS and Over the Years: An anthology of stories from PSS. Jamesa writes for fun, entertainment and pleasure. However, her work also explores some very serious issues relevant to young people in her society and beyond. Her stories therefore, while entertaining, carry some very serious messages. She is also involved in music, drama and art.
