Washington State’s Industril Safety and Health Act (WISHA): Standards for the Construction Industry

James H. (Jim) Hopkins is an Attorney. He received a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, did Graduate Studies in Economics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma Washington. Mr. Hopkins has forty plus years of experience in the Construction Industry and in the field of Employer/Employee Relations. The employee/employer relations experience is as a Human Resource Professional and as a practicing Attorney. Mr. Hopkins also serves as an arbitrator and a mediator for business, employment and labor disputes through the Mandatory Arbitration program of the King County Superior Court system. He completed the course for ＂Becoming a Labor Arbitrator＂ under the auspices of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. Mr. Hopkins has lectured on employment law and other business/construction related topics including ethics at City University, Seattle Pacific University, Bellevue College and Edmonds Community College, all in the greater Seattle area. He has written numerous articles and publications in the area of human resources and construction and has published five books, ＂Human Resource-Labor Relations A Primer＂, ＂Construction Liens for the Pacific Northwest Alaska Idaho Oregon Washington Federal Public Works A Primer＂, ＂Employment Law for Washington State A Primer＂ ＂Credit Law a Primer for Washington State＂ and ＂Human Resource-Labor Relations A Primer 2nd edition＂. Mr. Hopkins was an Attorney reviewer for NACM’s 2013 issue of ＂Manual of Credit and Commercial Laws, Volume III Construction Issues＂ and served on the Board of Directors for NACM WW-AK-HI from 2003 until 2013. Mr. Hopkins served on the Editorial Advisory Board of ＂Credit Today＂ published by Credit Today from 1997 until 2013.
