Maxine Anne Browne was born in Akron, Ohio to Elizabeth and Frank Browne. She attended Leggett Elementary and Central High School where she excelled in academics. The author was reared by her grandparents Arizona Mattie and Dorsey Walker Boddie at 149 Palmer Street in Central Akron, an area that was later removed by urban revitalization. The author’s love for reading and writing began in elementary school. She earned a B.S. with Honors degree from The University of Illinois at Chicago; an M.S.Ed. in The Teaching of Reading from Chicago State University, and a Ph.D. in Education from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is the proud parent of two adult children, Michael Alan and Angela Lynn. Her hobbies include writing poetry, rescuing feral kittens and cats and being an avid Birder.
