Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which wii be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrew 5:11-14). Disobedience brought the demise of the nation of Israel. Most of the population was killed or taken captive. Those who remained in the land were poor and living in desolate conditions. The Lord commanded us in Exodus 35, Not just hear them or know them, but do them. James says, be ye doers of the word and not hearers only. No wonder Jesus himself repeats this principle in John 13:17 when he says: If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them. God is not pleased with those who refuse to worship him in the way he has directed, which is truth and holiness. following God's instruction is a serious matter. It has to be our top priority as we do his work and accept his plans. But it also reveals how God equips and enables his people to participate in his purpose. Hard hearts is a lack of concern for spiritual things, we are more concerned with our business and material things than with God. Dull minds can become very keen when we study the bible and put God first. As we read it we must ask for understanding. Our minds are dull when we do not repent and we don't believe in the resurrection. We must repent daily and constantly. Sometimes we sin knowingly and unknowingly, with thoughts or with looks, or just with our word. Jesus tells us that the heart is repository for good and evil and that what comes out of our mouth good or bad begins in the heart. Worldly ares are great hindrance to our profiting from the word of God. deceitfulness of riches cannot deceive us unless we put our trust in them. True Christians are distinguished from hypocrites. Christ does not say that this good ground has no stones in it, or no thorns; but none that could hinder it's fruitfulness. All are not alike, to bring forth most fruit, we must aim at the highest. Hearing is most valved, when it is the word of God and we do as James 1:22 says, be ye doers of the word and not hearers only. We don't even have to tell people we are Christians, or wear a sign, that we are saved, our actions show them. Mark 8:17 And Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, "Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive not understand? Dull minds is very informational. Information is not in sequence, but, can be used for teaching or, just broadening our knowledge. Information is given so that each of us can search our hearts and mind (beginning with the writer) to see if we have dull minds. If our answer is yes, we can repent and get it right.
