ABOUT THE AUTHOR Debra L. Spears has seen first-hand the effects of trauma, crisis, grief and loss in her role as friend, Mother, Foster Mom, Chaplain and Minister. She retired after 30 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Debra opened her home as an Emergency Foster Home. She nurtured one teenager and 50 children under age 5. Debra focused on self-care. She utilized her resources in grief counseling. In 2011, Debra accepted her call to preach the Gospel. She was motivated to become a better servant leader. Debra finished her Bachelor of Science Degree in Church Ministries at Mid-America Christian University. There she also completed a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership. God still has plans for her life. Debra returned to fulltime work in child welfare. Debra was also led to specialized ministry in 2013 in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). In CPE Debra found her true Gift of Mercy in Pastoral Care. Debra is completing her Graduate work in Ministry. As Local Preacher, she assists at her home church of 41 years. She continues to serve as Chaplain Intern at the hospital and Per Diem Chaplain with a local health care & hospice. Debra remains thankful for God’s purpose and God’s plans for her life.
