Alec Noble was born Alec Spiridonoff on 21 September 1919 in Harbin, China, a Russian rail road boom town in northern Manchuria. His father worked on the TransSiberian Railway from 1900 until his 25-year contract was complete. At that time he chose to take is family to Canada. Alec started working for Canadian Pacific Rail when is was a teenager as a messenger boy. He worked his way up in procurement at the rail road and later at Canadian Pacific Air, where he retired as director of fuel purchasing. Alec died in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on 21 January 2009 at the age of 89.
