Elimelech and his wife Naomi and their sons, Mahlon and Chilion move to Moab to escape the famine in Bethlehem. The sons marry Moabite women, Ruth and Orpah. The three men die, leaving the wives to be untimely widows. Naomi and Ruth decide to return to Bethlehem upon hearing the news that the famine is over and the rains have fallen and brought bountiful harvests. Ruth gleans in the fields of Boaz, a wealthy farmer. Their meeting exemplifies a love story that is known through the ages as one of the most intriguing of all times. The story brings Ruth and Naomi through hardships, to ultimate victory. We can experience the same blessing in our own lives by trusting and enduring life's events. God is no respecter of persons.
