I have been very impressed by the detailed account of the book: "The History of Nursing in Gibraltar: Presented through historical facts and a recollection of memories". Within the book you will find an abundance of material that may appeal to a broad audience. This book also covers brief accounts of Gibraltar's extensive history which has helped shape out the modern day Gibraltar Health Authority. Although the book was not written by an historian, I can confirm that it does cover a large variety of topics which will appeal, not only to nursing enthusiasts, but to those who enjoy Gibraltar's history. A particular aspect of the book which I thoroughly enjoyed was that of Nursing Professionals in Gibraltar depicted by direct reference and through illustrations. The photographs help capture those great moments and allow us to picture the reality of the moment affording us a visual representation of the time. A tribute to all those hard working Nursing Professionals is evident throughout the book and I believe it is something that everyone will welcome and many will treasure. As a lay person I found it very interesting on how nursing has evolved over the years and this book provides a clear understanding on how and why many changes took place, with emphasis to keep up with modern day society and ever increasing demand that is placed on the health system. The progression within Gibraltar's Nursing Environment is astonishing and monumental. The book portrays the different departments that carry out specialised services and how they have accommodated the industry exceptionally well and in my eyes have enabled them to flourish. Within the book there are several recommendations, as in 2015 the Nursing Profession in Gibraltar as we know it, enters its 200 years of service to the community.
