I started my education in Greenbush, Minnesota in 1951. In 1955 my folks moved to Wannaska, Minnesota where I continued to the 8th grade. In 1960 my folks moved to Roseau, Minn. where I graduated from high school in 1963. I attended Bemidji State College for 2 years, but dropped out in 1965 and found a job. I had been dating Marion Hagen from Roseau during my senior year in school and we were still dating. She also attended Bemidji College. We were there together for one year. After I quit, she continued one more year and also quit. We were married in 1966. In 1967 we moved to southern California so I could go to aircraft mechanic school at which I was successful in graduating. I went to work for Western Airlines after graduation and worked about 6 years for them. In 1976 we had seen all of southern Cal. we wanted and moved back to Northern Minnesota by Wannaska. Where we bought a small farm and had an old farm house moved on to live in. I started my welding business there, also picking up from my father who had since sold his welding business 2 years before. My grandfather also had a welding business in Greenbush for many years and I guess it was in my blood to return to it. We are lucky to have 4 kids now, two born in California and two after we moved back to Minnesota. I’m happy to report that I have also been fortunate to have many of the family join us in voyaging at one time or another.
