Return to Baghdad: Photographic Impressions of An Expatriate

Mo Shaban is a Washington DC based freelance syndicated photographer of Iraqi heritage with a lifetime passion for capturing meaningful images. His fine arts, portraiture, and lifestyle work has been recognized in various venues throughout the US in the past ten years. Mo’s style is intuitive. His talent for crafting unrehearsed spontaneous photographs imbued his portfolio with a sense of discovery, tantalizingly revealing what is seemingly hidden. His success derives from his ability to anticipate the right moment and a state of mind that is both present and detached. ＂For me photography has always been about exploration, about the mystery, about finding out what is relevant and true. It’s about solving problems, whether it’s creative or technical. My applied science education does come into play with the quality and discipline needed for the craft. But fundamentally, I stand behind the lens to force myself ’see’ the world through a certain light of appreciation, realization and inquiry.＂ An insatiable traveler, Mo earns his living through his travel-friendly career as Strategic Business Consultant.
