The Worthy Captain

Upon pulling his ship, which is named the Nicolette, into port, Captain Fairbury put up a handwritten employment notice. On the day he specified to apply, the last man standing from several applicants wasn't a man, but Charlie Blackwell. Being the only one left Charlie was hired on the spot. As Charlie's local pastor tries to persuade otherwise before they lift anchor, Captain Fairbury whispers something which makes him instantly change his tune. Once they are out at sea, new challenges arise in which both seriously question whether or not Charlie should have come.

Never in C. M. Shaw’s wildest dreams did she think or believe that she would become a writer. In fact, this native born Omaha, Nebraskan had to bring her English grade up to satisfy her first love...Basketball. The ultimatum was simple: bring the grade up and continue to play. When it was first suggested, if C. M. Shaw wanted to be a writer, she should practice and read more, she can remember thinking that those who suggested it and the notion were crazy. However, she always liked a good story and thought one day, after all delusions of being a basketball player fell to the wayside, why not write stories that she would like to read, which was nothing too preachy and poems that could be understood. As for credentials, she graduated from Omaha Christian Academy, and then Grace University for higher education with a Bachelor’s in business, which included a dual major in Biblical Studies. When given the opportunity, she wrote articles for their newsletter named ＂Grace Tidings.＂ Additionally, she had written various articles for ＂The West O＂ a locally owned and operated not-for-profit newspaper. During various other failed endeavors, her slow kindling desire to write stories and even poems refused to be extinguished. In submission to the strengthening inner demand, her works drew inspiration from her inward struggles and experiences. With perseverance, practice, and patience, she put her shoulder to the plow, and respectfully saves the preaching for the preachers.
