Annette R. Schober (grace deer) lives in the mountains of north-central Arizona. She lives simply in her home at the end of many miles of dirt road. When younger there was no electricity, running water or television. Now there is solar power and rain catchment tanks thanks to her husband, Al. She loves to roam the hills and mesas with her many dogs and feel the spirit. "This is not a fad lifestyle taken upon a whim, but a chosen way of being. I feel very grateful for this lifetime of being a women of the earth." Annette began writing poetry and short stories when she was 11 years old and had received a Fellowship in Poetry from The Arizona Commission on the Arts in1997. This enabled her and Al to purchase their present homestead. This was the third time Al and Annette took a bare piece of land and made a home of earth, love and a bit of wildness. Annette is also the author of The Book of One Tree, a collection of short stories about people of the earth.
