Go to the River

First I was just a poet, then the Native American flute came into my life and I collided with the world of the inner music or the playing of the heart. Being that the Native American flute is a simple instrument, this creates a freedom of expression, whose only limitations are the notes available and the player’s imagination. Both poetry and music are stories in images, the language of the heart, and many Sufi poets (Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir, Lalla) have influenced and encouraged me in the ways of these two great arts and their uses in the process of the opening of the heart. During this time I also discovered the bansuri, along with the discovery of the guitar, which gave me the ability to sing my poems. All of these elements came together and helped nurture and unfold each other.
