Keeping Faith Real

If we feel we have always lived a decent moral life or have been deeply religious we might consider ourselves more worthy of God's love than the hooker on the street corner, the dirty homeless person walking the streets, or the person caught up in adultry. We must remember when we have an attitude like this, no matter what our social and moral level, Jesus went through the same agonies of hell for you and me every bit as much as he did for anyone else. Can you understand that his love is the same for you as the most glaring of sinners. Your thoughts and ideas on who gets to inherit a place in God's kingdom has no influence at all upon the Lord. Christians cannot be holier than thou or play favortism when they are striving to live the way Christ admonished us to live.

Reva Coker Horton grew up in the community of Indain Creek in Comanche County, Texas. The small Methodist Church of this community was where she began learning of the Lord and observing the behavior of men and women within its membership. During the life of the Indian Creek Methodist Church there would be eleven men ordained to preach the gospel. Reva’s father was the last of those men. Being a ＂PK＂ (preacher’s kid) gave the author front seats and insights to the policies, beliefs, and services of the many church’s that her father pastored through the years before he retired. Upon marriage Horton was involved with the programs of her home church of Blanket, Texas and was exposed to the laymen side of the success and struggle to keep harmony and love within the walls of the body of Christ as Jesus taught us to do. Reva Horton lives in Corsicana Texas with her husband Charles and a spoiled cocker spaniel named Penny.
