Warwick Payne spent a decade in newspapers and is former chief reporter of the Hampshire Chronicle. Winning regional and national awards, he cut his teeth writing university, pub and hotel guides. His debut book, The Portland Contract, was released by Olympia Publishers in 2013. This was followed by Always Maxed Out on Amazon Kindle Direct and Create Space in 2015. He left newspapers in 2012 on being offered a role in Southampton City Council’s cabinet, and in May 2015 became its deputy leader. His interests include local live music, cycling, golf, real ale, classic cars and, of course, writing. He lives in Woolston, Southampton, with his wife, Louise - who is also a former news and music journalist - and their daughter, Tabitha.
