G J Lee has been interested in writing and other forms of art, since she was a child. However, her writing did not take off until she began writing her memoirs in her early sixties. Although this project is not finished, it gave her a continued interest in the art of storytelling. She has written several short stories. Some have been published in magazines. She won a prize for her bush poem ’Possum’s Lament.’ in a competition. This is published in the Cairns Tropical Writers book, ’Category Five.’ She is a mother of five children, several grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, and reckons there is much more in her life still to do. The tale of ’Peta the Golden Cat, ’ was a seed of an idea that took on a life of its own.
