The Battle for the Soul of Niger-Delta

The Niger-Delta is the resource base of Nigeria, yet a lot of injustice seems to be going as the people are deprived and poverty reigns in the region while the ruling class gets richer. This essay examines the basis of the existence of Nigeria as a country and the injustice perpetrated by the ruling class.It also traces the history of various ethnic nationalities and the need for the overhauling of the entire system that brings the country into existence. While advocating oneness, this oneness must be based on justice and consent of the various ethnic groups defining the basis of their co-existence. This must be done through a sovereign national conference or the overhauling of the present constitution of the federation.
