It has been forty years since the storm that ended civilization and sent the world hurtling toward a new ice age. Winters are now long and harsh while summers are almost non-existent. As the current age of man comes to an end, a recently orphaned young girl named Mira crosses paths with Erik, whose past continues to haunt him. With the final great winter bearing down on them, Erik must risk everything to guide her across a desolate frontier of ice, snow, and deadly windstorms where nothing survives for long. If they can reach the other side, they may discover that their meeting was no accident and that Mira holds the key to Erik’s remarkable legacy.
