Brenda Kelley Kim was born and raised on the North Shore of Boston, growing up on whatever beach she could walk to and from in under five minutes. She attended Marblehead High School, graduating in 1982. In 1986 she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Saint Michael’s College in Winooski, VT. She has worked as a federal law enforcement officer, a travel and tourism web content specialist, a special needs pre-school teaching assistant, a diner waitress and a mystery shopper and has finally settled for being a starving self-published author. Her column, "Not the Same Old Thing" appears weekly in the Marblehead Reporter, and somewhat less reliably in other GateHouse Media New England publications. She lives with her family and a snorty pug named Penny in Marblehead, MA in a tiny cottage by sea.
