Doc - the nickname given to him by his cowboy friends - Gregory Patton was born in Southeast Kansas some years ago. He has called Kansas home ever since. He now resides just a few miles from the home that he grew up in. Both of his parents loved horses and the rodeo life and instilled the cowboy code in Greg at his earliest recollection. Being raised with horses he began to ride at a very young age. This he continues to do with the same passion for horses and the western life that he grew up knowing. He and his wife Debbie live on a little ranch just east of Parsons. Together they train horses and raise livestock. Greg has always been a good story teller and poet. Reciting poems and stories with friends while riding on trail rides, working cattle or in the evenings after they had finished up for the day is as much of a part of his life as is his ranch. Time spent around a campfire telling tales usually ended up with each cowpoke trying to outdo each other. Doc would recite something that would have the whole crowd drawn in. When he was finished they would always say something along the lines of "another good one Doc", "that wins hands down" or "you should put that one in your next book". This collection is a result of that encouragement. Debbie graces the cover of this book for good reason. She is the inspiration for Doc’s writing and completes the genuine and picture perfect life they enjoy. Doc believes life is about living by the words from the Good Book, adhering to the cowboy code and treasuring the miles that have been ridden with friends. Come ride with Doc and enjoy a delightful piece of Americana.
