Alan Lewis was born in Brooklyn and grew up in the Washington D.C. area. He graduated from the University of Maryland Creative Writing program, and currently lives in San Francisco. He was co-founder and creative director of Public Media Center, a non-profit media advocacy agency for social change organizations, and co-wrote, with producer/director Glenn Pearcy, the Academy Award-nominated documentary feature, "Fighting for Our Lives: The Story of the California Grape Strike." He was music editor of the San Francisco Bay Guardian, and has worked in advertising, corporate communications, and political consulting. His other novels include "The Fascination Parlor," "The Murder Organ," and "Wrestling with Girls."
