Christine Anne Cole’s working life as a librarian spanned all parts of the profession - from managing traditional book libraries, multi-media resource centres, researching for newspapers and TV programmes, to organising conferences on the provision of digital information as well as working as an archivist to an historical collection of papers. While working in the media she learned how to manage staff as a team and how to research under the discipline of "deadline". A graduate of the University of Kent, she entered the profession at a time of technological change - the move from print to digital information. Christine was appointed Information Manager (Italy) for the British Council based in Rome, supervising English language libraries in four major cities and promoting British trade fairs in the information business. Later, as Library Manager for the BBC Midlands, she and her team researched facts, footage and music clips for TV and Radio programmes. She helped co-found a new professional association for media librarians. Throughout her media career, Christine published articles in newspapers and magazines as a freelance writer. In fact, she has been reading and writing stories for most of her life and loves the research behind a character, especially within an historical background. She especially likes writing fiction about women, featuring their emotional and professional lives. She enjoys travel and has lived in Egypt, Germany, Italy and France. She recently enjoyed a brief stay with the Ngadjerri people of South Australia. Christine is now retired and lives with her husband in a Northamptonshire village in England. She has two daughters, both engaged in their own professions, and five grandchildren spread between England and Australia.
