Yugen: Beauty’s Roadmap

Jamilah Abdullah is a poet at heart, and an artist, who finds her inspiration from Mother Earth. She published her first poem in 2006, in the book Timeless Voices as the introduction poem. Jamilah grew up in New Mexico within a scenery that included mountains, crimson sunsets and gardening in a high desert. She learned to find value in learning about the cultures of others, and believes that an intermingled civilization that appreciates new ways of living, is vital to a society’s adaptation and survival. Jamilah is a Gates Millennium Scholar, who holds a degree in communication sciences and disorders, to support her strong belief that effective communication leads to harmony and understanding. She also views listening as a significant part of communication, including listening to our own inner needs. Yùgen Beauty’s Roadmap gives the reader time to reflect, then find their center, which results in the discovery of inner peace.
