George F. Wieland holds a B.A. in psychology from Stanford and a Ph.D. in sociology and psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has taught and conducted research at Michigan, Vanderbilt, and Guy’s Hospital Medical School in London, England. He has written several books on hospital and organizational cultures. His latest books on German immigrants are Celtic Germans: The Rise and Fall of Ann Arbor’s Swabians and Stubborn & Liking It: Einstein & Other Germans in America. Originally from New York City, he currently lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
