Kris Baudler is a Lutheran pastor of more than thirty years, ordained in the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). He has served four congregations, (including New York’s largest), in four different Lutheran denominations. He has a history degree from the City University of New York and six years of graduate study in theology at Germany’s elite Tübingen University. Fluent in German, Baudler is intimately familiar with his subject and uniquely positioned to access, analyze, and translate original 16th century manuscripts, letters, and texts. He has translated current ecumenical documents for various outlets, including for Dr. Heike Schmoll, Religion Editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. His latest article on Luther appears in LOGIA - A Journal of Lutheran Theology, the October 2016 special Reformation edition.
