Pastor Ronnie D. Joyner. D.Min. answered his call to the gospel ministry and delivered his initial sermon, March 31, 1974. 2014 marked his 40th year in the Ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has served in the pastoral ministry since November 1975 serving Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake, VA; Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Norfolk, VA; and planting the Philadelphia Fellowship (Baptist) in June 2000. Dr. Joyner is a 1975 graduate of Norfolk State University Bachelors of Arts Political Science, a 1978 graduate of the School of Theology-Virginia Union University Master of Divinity and a 1983 graduate of the Howard University’s School of Religion Doctor of Ministry. Dr. Joyner has begotten 35 Sons & Daughters in the Gospel Ministry and recently completed a 12 month sabbatical at Boston University looking at Divorce Among African American Clergy during the Sabbath in the City Series. Dr. Joyner is a former writer of the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention USA, former president of the Division of Clergy, Baptist General Convention of VA, former president of The Tidewater Metro Baptist Minister’s Conference, and has been a featured speaker at Colleges, churches and convention settings in 35 states and in 5 foreign countries. Dr. Joyner enjoys Adjunct Professor Status at both Virginia Union University School of Theology and Hampton University Religious Studies Program.
